One of the key elements to my depression is overthinking. To counter this, I try to fill my mind with other activities so it doesn't have idle time to worry or have negative thoughts

CBT is good for the thoughts. Slow yourself to feel what your feeling name the feeling and notice where it feels physically. Mindfulness helps. Guided mindfulness on utube. Running is great as well . its a natural high !!!

I used to jump right into those stress colouring books or cross stitch. I found if my hands were busy I wasn't overthinking things.

Wow. You are running to the point you are wearing yourself out. Accept you have an illness and find your own way to deal with things. Meditation is good to calm your brain. Listening to your body to know when you need to rest and eating healthily and giving yourself some quiet time.

I find myself over thinking at times to the point i give myself headaches am trying to stop by starting to do adult colouring books

I do it all the time...mistakes happen. The more important thing is my brain is busy so I'm not constantly overthinking things
