Antidepressants had completely stopped working in 2019. It took 2 years for me to find a counselor and because no one accepted my insurance I had to pay out of pocket. I wanted to see a psychiatrist to get an evaluation and to discuss other treatment options. That took another 3 years.

Right now I live in a state that has far better mental health care, I am able to get counseling. But, I'm back in the same situation that I was in before. I'm asking if anyone had similar experiences and if… read more

One member shared, "My mental health is so broken I don't even know where to begin to get help." That feeling of hitting walls at every turn is something many people with depression can relate to. The shortage of mental health providers is a real and well-documented problem, especially in certain states and regions. Stigma and the nature of depression itself can also make it harder to keep pushing for care when you're already exhausted.

Here are some practical steps that may help in your current situation:

- Start with your primary care physician (PCP) — they can refer you to psychiatrists or therapists and may even manage medication in the interim
- Contact your health insurance company directly to get an updated list of in-network providers
- Check SAMHSA's treatment locator (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) for local resources
- Look into organizations like the Anxiety & Depression Association of America or the National Alliance on Mental Illness for provider referrals
- Ask about telehealth options — these can expand access beyond your immediate area

If costs are a barrier again, don't be afraid to ask a trusted friend, family member, or patient advocate to help navigate the financial side of things so it doesn't become another overwhelming obstacle.

I don’t think people realize it’s hard. You’re trying to get the person that is best for you.

I find the only thing that helps my mental health is God he helps me even through challenges I love hearing the stories in the bible and also people's testimonies as it reminds us that we are all Gods children and need him all the Disciples struggled and needed Jesus teaching aswell.

Job 23 Then Job replied:
2 “Even today my complaint is bitter;
his hand[a] is heavy in spite of[b] my groaning.
3 If only I knew where to find him;
if only I could go to his dwelling!
4 I would state my case before him
and fill my mouth with arguments.
5 I would find out what he would answer me, and consider what he would say to me.
6 Would he vigorously oppose me?
No, he would not press charges against me.
7 There the upright can establish their innocence before him, and there I would be delivered forever from my judge.
8 “But if I go to the east, he is not there; if I go to the west, I do not find him.
9 When he is at work in the north, I do not see him; when he turns to the south, I catch no glimpse of him.
10 But he knows the way that I take;
when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.
11 My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept to his way without turning aside.
12 I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.
13 “But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? He does whatever he pleases.
14 He carries out his decree against me, and many such plans he still has in store.
15 That is why I am terrified before him;when I think of all this, I fear him.
16 God has made my heart faint;
the Almighty has terrified me.
17 Yet I am not silenced by the darkness, by the thick darkness that covers my face.
