I think it's only natural to feel anxiety. At the hospital there are nurses and therapists available 24 hours a day. They have your days structured, they see you eat your meals, to self care, they do just about everything for you. When you're discharged and go home, it all disappears. It's hard. I've been to after hospital programs, like day hospital programs. I think maybe hospitals should have classes for when you are discharged, give you referrals to therapists, classes for fun, hot line for depression but not suicide. How to survive after hospital. This group is great, you can talk to others especially if feeling depressed or lonely. Because of insurance, people maybe discharged before you're ready. It's hard. Use this group for what you need.
I agree with @A MyDepressionTeam Member about getting a dog or cat but don’t buy, go to your local shelter. They are so looking for someone to take them and love them just like we want someone to love us
Hugs and lots of love to you
My answer may be different—no. I spent four days in the hospital in December for Suicide Ideation (involuntarily admitted). It was actually such a positive experience that gave me skills I had needed for years, and I'm still using them on a daily basis. The best tool doctors gave me was a personal safety plan which gave me strength to not go back into depression. Hope this helps.
Good morning. Thank you for the hug. I appreciate it so much. Hugs
Yes I did feel anxiety after I left the hospital. When in the hospital there is structure and 24 hr nurses to help me so when I went home it was hard on me not having that anymore.
