In my experience, there is no amount of understanding depression, i have suffered since childhood, even overdosing at 11 yrs old.
I dont know if you have heard of a book called “my black dog”
It looks like a children's book, it’s a short read but very explanatory.
My Dad has never asked me to explain my depression and anxiety, he had no idea how to react to my mood wings, i borrowed this book from the library and asked him to please read it. Happily he did so, things are very different now as the simple but effective writing has opened his mind to many of the unanswered questions.
It’s a paperback book, written in a lighthearted way that puts an end to the basics of this cruel condition.
I would highly recommend this book to both mental health sufferers and the people that care for them.
Guys, I will look this book up as the title I mentioned might not be exactly as I worded it, I will then post it here should I need to clarify.
Stay strong everyone, when suffering from any mental health issues, it’s never going to be easy to explain. Personally I don’t understand the illness myself. Big cwtches from South Wales 🏴 UKx
Explain to them it's nothing they have done. Explain to them the disease of depression. I agree with Patsy, be honest. Good luck.

PS walking may help
This is an amazing little book, it will help you to express your concerns to anyone you are having difficulties with explanations regarding how you are.x
Be honest about it 😊
