In my opinion, I don't think anyone knows for sure. My reasoning is if they knew it could be cured. As it is they play hit or miss trying to find the right meds to help individuals. There is no formula to follow. If you are lucky the Dr will find the right one (or ones) that will help. I started seeing a psychiatrist in 2007. It wasn't until last year someone finally found the right cocktail of meds. Except for some situational depression and anxiety I have been free of the burdens of depression. I believe situation depression/anxiety is unavoidable. People will.always have something happen that can cause it. Like now I am dealing with some issues I believe are out of my control. I'm waiting to see a new counselor to help me sort thing out. Good luck to you.

In my case it is hereditary in my mother side of the family. We did a family tree. It was interesting it went clear back to the civil war. It was hitting all men until it got to my mothers dad. On my mothers side she had two brothers and herself. Then in my generation I have eight cousins who has it. Then the next generation had four . You can see how it tras from the family tree. Hugs
