It's really up to others to decide for themselves about conceit, but I agree for us it isn't about conceit it's about repairing the part of the brain that says you are worthy because we we're duped in the start of our lives as children into believing we we're not worthy of love ..sorry folks we are worthy of love so just go pound salt, you guys are not the judge
Harley, what exactly makes you unworthy? Be specific, and then question those beliefs. Is this "evidence " you came up with true? We all have weaknesses, flaws, attributes that may be causing us trouble, but usually these things can be worked on. If you are judging yourself according to past behaviors or events, then you need to put all that behind you. Regret and shame are self-defeating emotions that only hurt us. You have a choice to stop that thinking and start thinking of things that are more self-affirming. And comparing yourself to others is also a waste and pointless. I sound like I am preaching and I don't mean to. This is what is working for me. It is a constant battle, to change my thinking and contradict all those negative messages that voice in my head keeps spewing. But it is a necessary endeavor. Learn who you really are and love yourself for what is good, kind and decent. I hope this helps.
Harley, I am reading the book....Killing Compassion - Reject the Lie You Aren't Good Enough and Live Confident in Who God Made YOU to Be. Nona Jones
