I have a question that I would like to get advice on. This may seem silly to everyone but it is very important to me. My primary care physician is very young 38 and very married. I have no problem with this. I would just like to ask him if I can schedule an appointment just to talk with him. I don't want to be referred to a psychiatrist or anything like that. Sadly, therapy isn't treated by a doctor. The doctor is mainly there to do the medical side of things. Since you're on disability, don't you have Medicaid? I believe Medicaid covers therapy.
Chris, Yes
Also I did talk to my doctor this past Wednesday. It did not go well at all!!!!
I am devastated because he is such an awesome doctor!!! I just assumed he would be fine with me talking to him about my mental health issues. Well I sure was wrong. He said that if I need medicine or anything on the medical side he would be fine with prescribing me whatever I need. However, he said I know some faith based therapists that I could refer you to. I plainly told him I do not want any medicine. I already take 10 pills daily. I told him that I feel comfortable with him and I know him so I would just like to talk with him. You would have thought that I was asking for a pint of his blood.
I thought that when you have mental helath issues you were supposed to talk with your doctor. I had know clue that I would get such a negative response. Also since I am on Disability I simply cannot afford to go to a shrink because that would cost me a lot of money. Oh well I will just suffer in silence!!!
What do you want to talk to him about? Mental health related things?
Thank you very much!!!
I think it would be best to see a psychiatrist 🌹❣️🤗
