Someone recommended this book. Hope I get something out of it. 'The Cognitive Behavioral workbook for Depression. By William Knaus.
Don’t have tunnel vision there are so many different treatment approaches like DBT, reality therapy, CBT, and so many more. Please explore your options and research several treatment methods you will be surprised on how many are actually effective and may just work for you.
Hi Harley, I have done a lot of research in the last 3 years, and sorry to say I have not. come across anything that I would recommend. They are mostly at a very basic level.
There is, however, someone that I would recommend with highly, and it costs nothing. It is YouTube.com. Type in YouTube.com in your Google bar. On top of the page, there is a line that asks something to the effect of "what are you searching for", or it may be blank.
Type into the blank line "Gaba Mate", or "Gaba Mate/on the Jim Ferris Show". Gabor is an Australian doctor and Phychotherapist, who has hundreds if not more video tapes on YouTube.
Some he did as a professor while teaching at Boston College, Harvard, London and around the world. Some are lectures, some are discussions between himself and other well known physchlogists. I've listened to almost all of his tapes, sometimes over and over again, and have learned a wealth of knowledge from him.
I wish everyone would listen yo Gaba Mate's work on YouTube. Lately he has been speaking about mental heath issues in today's world, and how it affects our emotions. You can go on to his videos at any time of the day or night and they are there for you.
There is no charge, unless you want YouTube without ads, and then it is a minimal charge for (I think) the year. All you have to do is click on "skip ad", when an ad comes on, and his tape comes back on.
Good luck, Harley2. Let me know what you think.
