I am on disability and live with my sister. She works hard. Long hours and sometimes 6 days a week. I do things around the house and cook when I’m able. But I still feel guilt.
I don’t tell anyone I’m on disability.
I have to be honest, in some situations, it is best to say, "I have bipolar disorder 2, or fill in the blank" Once they know you have a disability, expecially government workers, they have to treat you with dignity because ITS AGAINST THE LAW TO DISCRIMINATE. So you don't have to disclose except when its to your advantage. No shame …..your like everybody else....just have higher sensitivity that most of the business world does not appreciate. xo
Jodi,
Please don't ever feel guilty about being on disability. You do what you can around the house and I'm sure you would have been out working hard if you were capable.
I went back to work when I shouldn't and made my health worse and my pockets empty!
It's going to take several months to get myself over making a wrong decision.
Carry on doing what you can and hold your head high. You never know what the future holds.
Sending love and kitty 🐱kisses and cuddles xx 😻💞🐾💞😸
I have been on disability for major depressive disorder with severe anxiety for 9 years and I don't feel guilty because my doctor ordered it and I know I am unable to work.
Not at all, I worked and payed into social security so I earned my disability, just like insurance. It is what keeps me alive so I haven't got any bad or inferior feelings about it at all.
@A MyDepressionTeam Member. The mental illness runs right down on my fathers side. Lots of bipolar, substance abuse and depression ( hospitalizations, suicide attempts, and a successful attempt). You’d think there’d be support, but no one talks about it.
