i've been told that if i were to end my life i'd be considered selfish
I get your line of reasoning but there is one thing you need to figure out. Why are you here in the first place... is it to help someone else through this hell of depression? I think that is your purpose. Imagine how many people there are that haven't even been diagnosed with depression yet and they think they are broken and alone. Start your purpose in life and write all of it, even the tough stuff, down and write your story. Send it out to the world by publishing it and discover how many kindred spirits there are out there you gave a voice to.

Im not advocating suicide. Just saying it feels like you are saying mental illness is temporary. A lot of us have had this disease our whole lives. Suicide is a symptom of the illness. Not everyone gets the same symptoms. Mental illness is a brain disorder. I do not believe people with rational thought process end their lives.
I absolutely hate, hate, HATE with a passion when people use shaming & blaming tactics on people! I am NOT advocating you committing suicide. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem! BUT nobody should be shaming or blaming you or any other person for struggling and grasping at straws. Often, I believe, people will say that if they have no other solutions or alternatives for you and/or they have heard it said from other people whom they trust but never questioned how reasonable it is. EVERYONE is a narcissist and 'selfish'. Not everyone is pathologically narcissist. There is a spectrum, and people fall along that spectrum. It seems to me 'label-making' is a favourite past time of people who don't take the time to understand other people. Please, do not take their label to heart! But, if you are contemplating suicide, consider talking to me, other people here and certainly a professional to see what alternatives are out there! There are plenty! And if you haven't exhausted every idea, then you will be making a serious mistake going through with suicide! if someone has so given up on life to contemplate suicide, then that person has NOTHING to lose by trying a few more things.
My friend told me that exact same thing... although I was already thinking about it. Thanks for sharing
