Does Anyone Have Panic Attacks?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

What exactly do your panic attacks feel like? (if you're able to describe it). I've been having these episodes lately that some of the people around me are convinced are panic attacks, but I'm not too sure. It's not like I'm doing anything stressful or anything like that when these episodes happen.

A panic attack is the same reaction you will have if your life is seriously threatened, so it is an individual experience with fear and dread and knowing you are about to die; the only thing is it comes and goes randomly. No specific stressor required. It can be controlled with meds and therapy to teach you techniques not to freak out in such a way that others can see you are having one

@A MyDepressionTeam Member panic attacks and anxiety affect everyone differently and from what I have read you are definitely having an anxiety/panic attack. When I get anxious I just want to get away from everything and everyone plus I feel like I can't cope even though I know that I can but everything is just a such an extreme state of panic that I want to run away. Have you spoken to your doctor about these attacks? If you haven't may suggest that you do because he/she may be able to give you some medication to help control them.

I’ve gone to ER a couple times too. Maybe therapy can help. They can give you ideas. It’s a chemical imbalance. I live with extreme anxiety everyday lately. I’m clenching my teeth. I have headaches but I started using a bite guard I’ve had for a long time. I saved in case this day came. I have good days too.
Only your doctor will know what other options. It might be something you will live with like I have and learn ways with a doctor or therapist to cope with.

Thank you very much for all of the responses. I'll have a chat with the doctor the next time I go see one.
