I am on Effexor for several years. I have my highs and lows but overall it is managing my depression very well.

Always talk to your doctor,, some meds you have to come off gradually. Cold turkey is not good. Peace and Love

Self medicating is dangerous....... Some anti depressants don't go with other medications be careful...I new someone on anti depressants and drank a lot of alcohol they committed suicide ... anti depressants and depressants don't mix alcohol is a depressant its self. And will not mix with anti depressants.

Norman - since I've been on so many dif meds I can give u first hand experience & researched advice - I looked that up cuz I hadn't heard of that one - it's an anti- psychotic - a few months ago coming down from a manic episode I was given Serequel-- out of all the anti-psychotic meds that's the only one that has anti - depressive abilities - believe me I looked online- and have had some risperdal is a common one- but that doesn't help w/ depression & it made me feel horrible - up can expect pretty much similar side effects drowsiness, increased appetite - out of all of those meds I wud say Serequel wud be the best option.Talk to your doc about this- don't be afraid to self advocate-wishing u well Norman 😃

Peggyann - true I one my hospital stays I met a man whom have himself a BIGGER reason to b depressed aside from the biology of it. He drank regularly while on an anti- dep and he had a stroke cuz of it 😞
