Does anyone find it difficult to actually get your primary physician to actually prescribe adderall for their chronic depression? I sense a reluctance when I brought up the possibility of trying it. I have been through about 10-15-20?? kinds of the common medications with limited If any results at all in treating my depression over the last 25 years. Is there a reason not to give it a try just as you would Prozac or Wellbutrin or abilify to name a few?

My Dr also prescribes Adderall to me but be careful not to fall into the trap I have found myself in. I am prescribed 20 mg tablets, not the time released capsules. The only days I feel like my old self-are when I get the Adderall filled and then because I don't want this normal feeling to end, I tend to overtake it and I end up running out which leads to a week or so of emotional hell. I sleep 12-14 hours a day and if I'm not asleep, I'm crying, sad, and in mental turmoil. I have thought about asking him to increase my dosage but I'm afraid that eventually, that won't be enough either. I am also on Lexapro and Klonopin.

Research around and fine you a good psychiatrist. If you been suffering from depression that long you should have found one years ago. My psychiatrist prescribes Adderall for me and I couldn't function without it. Good luck.

Hello there, May I ask how adderall works for you. I'm 68 yro woman who has fought depression 60+ yrs. Tried TMS didnt work lots of therapists, anti depressants n on and on. My thyroid medication gives me the only what I would consider normal feeling in the morn w some energy n not so depressed feelings/thoughts but it goes away within an hr or so. Im On remeron which i take at night n it relieves most of the anxiety but I still have absolutely NO energy or motivation. I hear adderall does give you energy. Please share w me what you can n want to as I'm at my end. Don't want to live my remainder yrs like this. Thank you for any info. Bonnie
