Yes. I have been receiving ketamine for TRD for a year now. Prior to the ketamine, I was receiving ECT that was not working. With the ketamine, I have my life back. I can function like a "real" person again. The clinic I go to charges $450 a session and is supervised by a nurse and dr.
The effect builds up over time. At first I was going 3 times a week. Now I go every 6 weeks.
Ketamine saved my life!. Care Credit may help finance it for you
No there is no remission that I know of. Some people need it more often. There is one person who goes to the same clinic I do that only needs an infusion once a year. You may want to look at the newly approved nasal spray esketamine as insurers are now covering it. My dr thinks its a bad idea because it has been abused as a street drug so I just don't talk about it with him anymore. I no longer need any antidepressants because of the ketamine. It does not help my ptsd but there are other people at the clinic that swear by it. Johns Hopkins is conducting a study at present and the dr. called me as I know someone at the school. He is very excited about the results so far. It saved my life as I am a four time suicide attempt survivor. It is new and many drs view it with suspicion. Be your own advocate and do your own research. It works and the effect is immediate.
@A MyDepressionTeam Member are you still happy with the ketamine? I've read that some people go into remission and only need a booster every once in awhile. Has that happened to you?
My dr says most of his pts say it only lasts for an hour or so. He has one that is l Mo ore successful. How r u doing now with it? I might be starting ECT soon.
