With so much media hype on mental health awareness, do you believe that laws are getting better at protecting those with mental illness? Would love to hears opinions or examples.
The legal system improperly disposes of mentally ill individuals. The courts are ill equipped to deal with mental illness. The system is failing them. A lot of them end up incarcerated without redress of their mental condition. They don't get treatment and they don't get better. They just serve a legal sentence. And then let out onto the streets. Also, a number of mentally ill individuals are not given consideration and treated unfairly in legal proceedings. They aren't given an unbiased hearing and their rights are usually forfeited for reasons not pertinent to legal consideration or due process.. I know this because I've been there without being advised of my rights. I had no power to do anything, and was treated like criminal trash. Shit happens to mentally ill persons in the justice system.
Thank you LauraCherrey for speaking out! Ty god bless
Keep speaking the truth. This is the whole reason most people who struggle with mental illness live in silence and fear that their God given human rights will be taken from them. And they are. Dont ever let anyone tell you that you are not worth the same quality of air as anyone else.
Me personally, no I don’t think so, they we are using that as excuse for anything and everything. That is sad.
Political bullshit - sorry 😐 how I feel . Just my opinion which I’m sure someone out there will contradict
