Should I Tell My Child About My Depression?

Hi im after some advice please. I have a special needs child who struggles with understanding things. Hes nearly 11 now and will be starting secondary school soon and will be bringing his friends back to the house but im ashamed of my house. My house isnt dirty dirty but it could do with a clean and tidy, ive explained to him i dont want people to see the inside of my house because "its a mess" and he says why dont i just tidy it up then. There are some great books out there that can help explain depression to a child. Personally I adore Matthew Johnstone's "I had a black dog" and also "Living with a black dog".

Yes, and talk to them about why you are so they can understand it. Or take them with you to doctor and you both can talk to you child to help them understand it that way too.
