A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was diagnosed with depression and massive anxiety 6 years ago when I had my nervous break down. Have been on Anti depressant and lorazepam for Anxiety. My question is will I have to take these for the rest of my life??

I met with my doctor and she is weening me off Klonipin. She feels that they are not necessary with the new medication I am taking. I trust this lady, she is pretty clever.

The thing with Clonazepam (Klonipin) is that eventually you will need to raise the qty. I was told the most they will ever prescribe. I know when I haven't taken them

Honestly it depends on the person. I've tried going off mine and it did not go well at all so I've just accepted I'll be taking them for the rest of my life. But other people are able to successfully go off meds. If you decide to try going off the meds work with a doctor (preferably a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse) to taper off your meds gradually. Some are more difficult to quit than others. Good luck!

I doubt you will, As long as you are getting the right help and understand what works for your anxiety. As time goes on you will find ways to deal with it. It will be your choice whether you want to stay on or off stay strong much love.
