Don't want to scare you off of the idea but I could not tolerate it. Severe headaches, cried all day after treatment. Didn't know if it was day or night. Called my husband and kids on their cellphones crying and didn't know they were home. Forgot where my husband worked. Had to stop after 4 treatments. It was a nightmare. My memory was affected by it also. There are so many things that I cannot remember, from the past especially. I was desperate to feel better but wish I never tried it. Then again, when I've been in the hospital (Mclean hospital in Belmont MA, the best psych hospital in the country) I've seen people do just great with it. They did take a nap after and maybe have a small headache but they really functioned. I did not have my ECT at Mclean. I had it at another hospital closer to me. I thought about trying it again at McLean hospital but was just too afraid to. Everyone is different. Hope this helped and hope I didn't totally scare you away from trying it. I would say that I'm probably in a 2% of the population that tries it and has these types of symptoms and outcome. Cathy.
I'm at peace with not trying that one again!! 😂🤣😅
It pulled you “out of some really tough times” ?
I’ve heard that it can reduce or even eliminate depression. Also heard there is memory loss... I’m seriously considering this. I guess I’d like to hear more from those who have had the experience.
Can you help with more info from your personal experience?
@A MyDepressionTeam Member if you decide to try it again... you might possibly be the bravest person ~ or the most tortured soul... I hope you can be at peace with whatever you choose. :)
@A MyDepressionTeam Member thank you ... if it doesn’t change me...I wondered.
