Thank you all for your contribution and answers to my questions. I will surely go back to the Doc and explain my problems with the meds. I also like the *White Raspberry drink called, "Stress" because my aim is to one day sleep without pills and have that happen forever. I will all well.

Keneuwe: I would DEFINITELY get another Doctor's opinion! Look up their credentials: Are they Board Certified? Other Patient Reviews. Education and licensure. Look under Health Grades, and one called Vitals.com sight. I also would like to add, I had naively trusted a Psychiatrist: PhD. D.O. for 10! years. I literally almost allowed his treatment to kill me! But once he put me on an anti-psychotic called Latuda, 40 mg. once daily, and it caused horrid side affects. Severe! Anxiety/Panic Attacks, (I'd explain to him, I felt like someone was holding me under water, couldn't breathe, suffocating but would not die!) That is when he began treatment on alprazolam aka: monster benzo: Xanax! He kept increasing my dosage up until I said, No more increase in dosage....by the time is was 4 mg daily, plus he had me on 15 mg ambien to help me sleep, along with Lithium Carbonate, Bupropion, Vibrryd, UGH!!! That's what was craziest about me, but you hope to be able to trust your Doctors you know? Anyway, I voluntarily checked myself into a Psychiatric facility, and requested to please.....be detoxed o ff of Xanax and Ambien. It was pure hell on earth for over a year, before it completely got out of my system. Plus, I got new Psychiatrist who helped wean me off of the many other medicines he had me on. So after all this BS....Please....trust yourself, and also SEEK IMMEDIATELY the professional opinion of new Doctor. Prayers for you. PR

When my insomnia was at its worst my doctors where experimenting with a lot of different drug combos (I react a bit weirdly). But the best tip one of my doctors ever gave me was so simple it hurt.

Routine is important. Take your meds at the same time every day. Get reasy for bed, like a ritual, same things, same order. Go to bed.

If after 20 minutes you still haven't gone to sleep. Don't stress. Get up. Do something e.g. walk around the house, or drink a glass of water.
Go back to bed and try again.

Avoiding light sources and electronic devices in your bedroom also helps.
