Members responded warmly to the question about pets that help with calming, sharing heartfelt stories about dogs, cats, and even a mini pig named Penelope who helped one member avoid severe depression for an entire year. Several members described how their pets sense emotional distress and respond with cuddles, closeness, or gentle nudges, while others shared the deep grief of losing a beloved animal companion. A recurring theme was that pets offer unconditional love that feels irreplaceable, with many members encouraging those without pets to consider adopting a rescue.

I have my Guinea Pig Langelica for a therapy pet. Below is a poem I wrote about him.

Langelica
By: Melissa Cash
Langelica is my new therapy pet…
He’s the best little angel I have had yet.
Langelica is so much fun…
I love to watch him run.
He loves to eat his hay…
Greens, pellets & veggies all day.
Langelica is a huge blessing…
He helps clear my mind when I’m stressing.
He is very small…
Not very long or tall.
Langelica is a very rare breed…
He is an Himalayan Albino of all the seeds.
He will only grow up to two pounds…
His shape is short & round.
Langelica is very shy…
Please only use your eyes when saying hi.
He loves to hear you talk…
He will answer you with his own little squawk.
I love Langelica to death…
I will care for him until my dying breath.

Oh Maryring: My heart is so deeply moved with sincere thankfulness for your prayers, and your expression of compassion. I am crying....for a good reason. Because this group helps so much, and I'm hopeful at how we attempt to encourage, and strengthen one another, and just to be here for one another.

Your thoughts mean more to me, than I can express in words. It is rare to find ones who care enough about each other, in this "seeming to me, world that leaves us alone, and so many are in desperate need of help!"

I think it is a shame that there is so much ignorance, intolerance, stigma, and judgment placed on ones who most certainly didn't as for a chemically imbalanced brain.

Anyway, I won't go on sweetie, but I deeply will hold your kindness within my heart, as hope, as a blessed reminder that there are ones who care and can relate and do our best to help support one another. My prayers will go up to the wonderful Lord, "the Greatest Physician", for you , and all the rest of our fellow group members .

I'm sorry it took me so long to reply. I don't get on here as often as I should, I'm so tired and sleepy most all the time. God Bless my dear one. PR
