A lot of depression medications have sexual side effects such as decreased libido or difficulty reaching orgasm. He should speak with his doctor. There are medications that would effect some and not others, or not as severely. Wellbutrin is one that I know of with no sexual side effects and no weight gain.

Do you guys spend time together much? Getting away from family, friends,work etc, even a walk in the park together? building back the intimacy and connection might require something much more simple and basic before launching into what can be quite an anxious encounter for those with depression, possibly low self esteem and confidence. I don't mean to simplify it, it's incredibly personal.
