Are You Bothered By Posers?

Seems to me having major depression has become quite fashionable. It's as if every other person who has ever felt sulky or sad purports to be suffering from depression. We know that the condition is waaaaayyyyy over diagnosed in some parts of the world, especially in the US. I had a friend who was depressed over a relationship breakup. When she started going on how she had depression and felt so sad I pointed out that she was indeed (and understandably) depressed but that was different to a diagnosis of depression she cracked the shits and stopped talking to me. The dark numb blackness of depression is so vastly different to being depressed but unfortunately most people don't understand unless they too have been to that dark place. There is a meme I saw that sums it up "telling someone with depression to cheer up is liking stabbing someone and telling them to stop bleeding- it does not work that way"

you know what annoys the hell out of me? People saying "think positively" or "life is what you make it" it makes me feel stabby, like wouldn't it be great if that were true, there'd be no *swear word* depression. If you don't understand, then say so.But DO NOT say those words to me, or you may just get bashed. Yeah i'm a dick sorry

I'm a true sufferer and I agree that the term is overused or someone having a bad day says that they are depressed. That pisses me off
