Can Anyone Tell Me What Borderline Personality Disorder Is?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been struggling with Depression for a while now, I'm pretty mono-polar as in I bounce between apathy and episodes where I feel like my emotions are melting. But I get really angry sometimes, and feel myself being irrational however I feel like letting it out would be worse. I just want to know the symptoms if anyone can help?

After my husband died I got stoned and drunk daily..was locked in the psch ward for 3 days. The psychiatrist told bme I have complicated grief. This was 2 weeks after my husband of 36 years died. My eldestination daughter told them I was bI polar. Because I have been taking care of my terminally ill husband for 6 years..she actually told me I was a narcissistic because I was so depressed about my husband her father...

Hi new friend, it is good you are asking questions and for sure it is hard to explain BPD. I had to wikipedia and google it too after my diagnosis was questioned (I once was diagnosed with Brief Psychosis, then Anxiety Disorder, then diagnosed Depression, now diagnosed Bipolar 1, but the current psychiatrist is thinking maybe I have BPD and wants to observe me longer)

Maybe we can keep in touch since we are both new at this and share our findings. The most important is to tell all your symptoms to your doctor because they usually need a lot of time and observation to figure out the right diagnoses.

Briefly though, the difference between Bipolar and Borderline is that bipolar is mainly a mood disorder like large mood swings that include mania and depression. The mania stage can include psychosis, impulsivity, hyperactiveness. Whereas Borderline is a personality disorder that includes trouble with relationships, impulsive behaviour that is risky or harmful to oneself, and empty feelings of constant loneliness and fear of abandonment, with suicidal thinking.

Hi, I have BPD. Was recently correctly diagnosed with it after years of being told it was depression and anxiety. It can be a bit difficult to spot-especially for people like myself who have "quiet" BPD. I rage internally rather than externally. I'd suggest doing a thorough google search, as BPD is quite a complex sucker. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.
