I really want to turn my life around. I want to feel like I'm living rather than just simply existing. I've just returned to work after having a bad "episode" of anxiety and depression. I feel much better now and I've set out a plan to eat healthy, stop drinking and take up playing badminton again but I've been here before and it never lasts.
Any tips on keeping myself motivated even on the bad days?
I'm praying, listening to Christian music and radio. Please I'm not preaching. Just saying that it's helping me more than anything else I have tried in the past.
I agree. Take one small thing and do it for yourself. Be proud the next day of that one small thing and focus on how it makes you feel and do it again. Then, build on the feeling. That is the best motivation I have found.

Start small. I've failed so many times because I wanted to do it all in one go. The problem is that all of it becomes so overwhelming that it forces you to quit. Especially when you have a bad day.
Apart from small, start with something easy. Like eating better. It does not have to be big changes all at once, it can be a choice to systematically eliminate bad foods from your diet. I say easy, because it should be easy to maintain, even on bad days.
And if not, don't beat yourself up. Try again. I have had to start over MANY times. It is a pain like you cannot believe, but I'm too stubborn to give up.
You owe yourself those changes, because your life is so much more valuable than what you think!
I also listen to christian music. If it is not for you though try something that speaks to your soul.
Set yourself short term attainable goals, each little win will add up to a bigger one overall.
