How Do You Know When To Get Stitches?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

Sorry if anyone finds it gross but just curious.
Like if someone cuts their arm how do they know if they need stitches or not?

A Pumpkin89 said infection control is important ... so seeing a friendly medico could be worthwhile just for that (unless you can manage). There would be better qualified people out there, however for what it is worth, the main issue about how many or whether stitches are needed is :::: does the cut look like it will heal well; or will it open/reopen as you move?? A chemist/pharmacy could probably sell you appropriate disinfectants and those H style clip bandages.

I would get medical treatment if the bleeding wouldn't stop or after a day or so & it looked swollen, red indicating infection but usually cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide or betadine, puting some antibiotic ointment on it and bandages for a couple of days.

It's possible it may need stitches. Give it a good clean though to prevent it from getting infected.

@A MyDepressionTeam Member some people hate going to the doctors n stuff like that because of fear that the staff/others will think bad things about them
But if the cut isn't a line.. It's opened in more of a tear shape if that even makes sense. And there's like white (maybe tissue?) in it. Then what?
Idk :/

How bad is it? Can't really say without actually seeing. Best to just seek medical attention.
