Does Anyone Know Some Good Methods For Getting Your Sleeping Pattern Back On Track?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

My body clock's all over the place. It's got to the point where I don't sleep until 9am and wake up at 5 which means at this time of year I hardly see daylight on top of it. Does anyone else suffer with insomnia or a dodgy sleeping pattern and is there anything you could suggest to get it back in place?

Have you tried Melatonin? It is a natural supplement that aids in sleep cycles. A lot of my friends who do shift work rely on it to help them adjust from day/night shifts.

I had a similar experience between 2007 and 2013 - it eventually got to the point where I did not even get out of bed... I would sleep the day away, and be awake at night... and eventually I slept nearly all the time.

My solution was to get into a set routine... Even if I wasn't tired, I would go to bed at a set time every night, read for 20 minutes, listen to acoustic or instrumental music and drift off... sometimes I had to use sleeping tablets prescribed by my doctor. I woke up every morning at the same time and immediately stretched and started my day with a glass of water at room temperature. You have to get into a routine... Same time to bed, same time to rise... it resets the body clock. But it takes a while, I guess depending on your brain chemistry.

I have also included progressive body relaxation when I first started to just get my body to wind down. A hot shower or bath before bed is also very useful.

I had to go on a sleeping pill to help me get to sleep. Also having a shower before you go to bed or reading a book helps. Also no electronics or T.V. before bed unless watching movies tires you out.

YouTube has a lot of videos of meditation. I've tried it before and worked for awhile for me. I tend to listen to music while going to sleep. Helps me also.
