Has Anyone Had Any Luck With Medication That Addresses Hypomania?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I currently take zoloft, lamictal, klonopin, and buspar. They have significantly improved my anxiety and depression, but nothing thus far has touched my hypomania. Any suggestions?

I found quetiapine/seroquel at 600mg per day sorted out my periods of elevated mood when nothing else worked, its very sedating. I still get them but theyre much less intense and don't last as long so are much more manageable.

I am prone to hypomanic episodes and have found the Risperidal Consta helped me.

When I was struggling with hypomania my doctor increased my lamicital and after about a week or so it resolved. I tried lithium but it caused hand and leg tremors after a month and had to stop taking it. Best of luck finding a medication that works for you!

Potent SSRI antidepressants, like Zoloft, can cause hypomanic/manic symptoms. I used to take Zoloft, and I found the less potent SNRI to be a little less edgy, but just as effective. Definitely talk to your psychiatrist about this.

Do you need a prescription for those meds? I really need something for anxiety!
