@A MyDepressionTeam Member. when I read your first line I knew you were an empath. So am I and probably many on this site. The way I protect myself is boundaries, which Alanon helped me acquire in my early 30's. They have SAVED my life!

@A MyDepressionTeam Member the further you scroll down, the page you googled, you'll find Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Houston 24-7, the Meadow Outpatient Center - Home, and many, many more offering of CBT. You'll find your fit.

A Personal Care Assistant goes a long way to buffer you from "the too rough fingers of the world". 1 Just check with your insurance to identify agencies, they work with, provide you all the paperwork to get started in a PCA program. It's changed my world for the better, and I hired my PCA just about a month ago. If you are low income, your PCA will be paid for you by your insurance.

Love,

Francesca

@A MyDepressionTeam Member google "Meadow Place, TX Cognitive Behavioral Therapy". There will be a heading for Best 10 places that offer CBT. Then it lists therapists and psychologist that offer it. A professional is has been a great guide to the dark maze I grew up in. Finally, the light was on, and I was ushered out into the world. Everything was clear and up to me. Not to mention the support they give you. They are guides that children raised in a healthy, loving family do not need., They are parents are their guides. The other children, raised in sick families, are orphans living with their mother and father. They are under the impression they must have received everything they needed to face life, as adults equipped for challenges, until they realized their parents were cardboard cutouts, or worst, standing in for real guides.
So that means we raised ourselves the best we could, as children trying to figure out life all alone. As our life unfolds, we suffer the consequences; until we realize it, we can't look for guides.
My therapist has improved my life by at least 50% even though I have bipolar. She guides me, teaches me to look for the pitfalls, and if I get too close to one, she warns me so I can save myself. We were never meant to raise ourselves, and yes, even old dogs can learn new tricks, We are never too old for healthy stewardship.
That is when the light goes on.

@A MyDepressionTeam Member. Boundaries are walls. I used to have known. Parents that abuse you normally want you to have none, so they can run right over you, and so will the rest of the world. Once you build walls around you, you are a fortress. You can still open your door, when you choose to, but normally it is closed. Opening it is your choice, now. It is not permanently open for you to be used, nor to be afflicted with everybodies emotions. You now have self protection, which was never allowed before. You are suddenly more secure, and not subjects to the high winds. You are safe from the elements. Your heart is still open, your soul still soars free, but you know whenever you need solace, it is suddenly yours for the first time. It is your Glory.
