Vitamin D
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I just read a article on vitamin D. It says that it can be a cause of depression. What are your thoughts on this are you taking it, does it help. Please let me know.

Thank you,
Eric

Ok now I got upset over this and had to do a quick research and found this on Webmd:
How Vitamin D Deficiency Leads to Mental Health Effects

Low levels of the vitamin may contribute to schizophrenia in adults, depression, and seasonal affective disorder. Other health problems that can arise from the deficiency include:

Low bone density
Bone softening
Heart disease
Rickets in children
Cancer

So after reading this I will continue taking mine because I take them and also A for my bone health that I need very badly per the nurse practitioner that gives me my infusions.
Hugs to all

I was low on Vitamin D years back. My Doctor told my to get Over the counter Vitamin D 3. My levels are good now. A lot of Minnesotans are deficient of Vitamin D because of our long winters and not getting enough sun.

Can you cite the article? Everything I've read says the lack of it causes depression.

"All the studies found that depressed subjects had lower levels of vitamin D compared to controls, and those with the lowest vitamin D levels had the greatest risk of depression..."
