My daughter’s depression and anxiety has gotten worse especially when trying to work at a job. She is unable to hold onto a job because of her anxiety and depression. She is a very caring person but has trouble having friends and has low self esteem. My wife and I try giving her as much support as possible but it is hard . Some times it is like walking on egg shells around her. I feel it is all my fault because I suffer from depression and she inherited it from me . I don’t understand anxiety… read more
Hi all, yes she has been in therapy for 10 years and on numerous of medications. She also has a therapist. Nothing has seemed to work. As for me, I am a fighter dealing with my condition and as I have previously posted I live a productive life. Yes, there is times when I have bad days but it only lasts for a short period.
Thank you all for your posts and I do like this website.
Yes I agree with Kim and Susan. She may need to see a doctor and a therapist. There are good doctors out there that can help her get on the right medication that will help with this kind of thing. Therapy will help her with the feelings she is having. It must be so hard on a parent to have to go through this and I'm sorry your having to. I hope things work out. God bless you.
Hi, JWZ. I do not have any children. But I know for myself I was in denial for the longest time until I decided that something was wrong with me. I reached out by going to a psycatric hospital for two weeks. There I was diagnosed with depression, PTSD, borderline personality disorder. An I was put on medication. Today my diagnosis is Bipolar 2 with psychotic features. I have had so many diagnoses since I have been treated at the age 16. I was born with mental illness. It runs very highly in my mother’s side of the family. My mother had mental illness plus her two brothers. I have 8 cousins in my generation who has mental illnesses. I do agree therapy, counseling and seeing a psychiatrist will help your daughter.
Has your daughter been diagnosed by a dr. Or therapist? There are so many good medications out there now. I’m bipolar and passed it on to my daughter. Fortunately we both see the same mental health nurse. It’s hard knowing that “ you passed around her daughter”. Therapy and the right medications are the way to go, for both of you.
