What Causes Depression?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I don't consider feeling sad about something bad that happened depression. That is a normal response to something. To me depression is feeling bad when I don't really have a reason to. Or feeling too bad about something that happened. Too bad for too long.

What causes that? Why do I react differently than other people?

Why Does My Depression Seem To Rear It's Ugly Self At Night?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

Most nights I'm fine and my depression stays "asleep". That's what I've decided my depression does when it's not annoying me
Some nights tho it'll rear it's ugly self and won't go back to sleep for ages
It's worse tho when it's not far from my late nanna's, who is my late dad's late mum, birthday, which would've been new years eve.
I'm a nanna's and daddy's girl and I always will be. I'm nearly 41.
Ive not really go out to celebrate the new year in recent years as ive preferred to stay… read more

PTSD From Child Abuse And Depression
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hoping to hear from others with similar experiences. My mother used to hit me as a baby and toddler whenever I cried. I learned to stop crying and freeze. There was other stuff too. Decades later, I still only feel truly safe with animals, not people. So the trauma came before the depression.

Do you separate your PTSD symptoms from depression or is it all one big challenge? How do you deal with trust issues? Any success stories?
