Effexor
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

ive come across a video on youtube about the birth effects on a baby or during pregnancy that if you take Effexor while pregnant it will harm or kill the baby. well first of all thats why on the bottles it says talk to doctor before starting medication if wanting to become pregnant or is pregnant or breastfeeding but will it or does it actually do that?

Most antidepressants have a devastating effect on the physical and cognitive development of the baby during the earlier gestation periods, in fact, that's when most damage is done. However, there are safer medications that won't cause so much damage, if any, to the baby so you might want to talk to your doctor about different options if you plan on having babies soon.

I quit my meds as soon as I found out that I was pregnant with both my son's. I didn't know about what it could have done to them. I just didn't want to have any drugs in my system. I went through hell ,but in the end it was worth it . My son's are healthy successful young men and great dad's.
