Has Anyone Successfully Applied For Disability Due To Mental Health Issues?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Just wondering what the process is for applying for disability income due to mental health issues. I have a diagnosis of depression and also suffer from anxiety, though it is not officially diagnosed. I have not been able to successfully hold down a job for more than 3 months in the past 8 or so years, and I am seeing a pattern that it is at least partially due to my depression and anxiety issues.

Yes, I am on disability. I was denied the first time which happens 99% of the time. My advice to you is to write down everything you can think of that pertains to your illness. Even the most minute thing should be included, for instance if your meds give you the runs or constipates you. Also, a detailed list of every job that you have ever had that you can think of. Just start dates and end dates. This will show that you have tried to work. Hope this helps!! :)

My wife and I are in the process of applying-- she has Muscular Dystrophy (mild though) and I have always had issues with work due to Aspergers/ depression/ etc. This is our 3rd try & we are getting some help from an attorney this time. 'Keeping our fingers crossed.
