How Long Should I Have Off Work?

I've been off work for 3 weeks ( 1 self certified and last week and this week signed off by the doctor) firstly due to a chest infection but I've since realised I've had a relapse with my depression but I've been trying to ignore the signs since last November and so in the end, I've become extremely ill with flu and a chest infection and now my depression has really taken hold. Depression medication takes at least 8 weeks to be effective so your leave should allow for that..hope you feel better soon.

Not telling what to do, but it 'sounds' like maybe a good idea to be up front with those you work with and have have developed some level of trust your thoughts and feelings and Depression. You did not go to the lake and fished out depression for a reward catch. IT found you through no fault of your own. I don't know if you are forced to fight if so will pray for you. One way or the other pray for you. Your opening up might even help someone else out?
