Just wondering if anyone else here finds comfort in the bottom of a bottle, when having a really down episode,

I know that you shouldnt medicate with alcohol and drugs. A little bit of my story is I broke my ankle when I was 14 and I was never told that I would have pain as bad as it was when I was finally able to walk. They said the pain would be light and would go away which was a lie. They had to put a metal plate and pins in. It would throb and swell four months after the surgery. Sometimes it is minute by minute
So my middle child since the age of 15 has had depression anxiety self harm and then he developed a drinking problem. He got better. He's been off his meds for three years and was doing fantastic. Suddenly over the last few months he's gone back to drinking nightly. His grades in college are tanking and he stopped going to work. Mine is anxiety, depression, and PTSD. What other matches are out there? and what do you think the difference and the similarities are? like between someone with anxiety and depression, and someone with ODD and depression, or bipolar and depression?

I have found that so many people turn to drugs and alcohol when depressed or anxious. When I was in my 20's I did my share of getting drunk and loving it. But once diagnosed in 2001 I haven't' taken a drink of anything. I go to parties or out once in a while and it is ingrained in my mind that I am not supposed to mix alcohol with my medication. Ask your doctor or therapist why you shouldn't drink alcohol! Hang tough! YOU MATTER!!!
