If I don't like a place. I leave. So, that being said, if I were to go to therapy sessions again I would have to travel to a different town. That's usually about 15 miles out minimum. I was just curious how far has someone traveled for their providers. Is it worth it? e.g how long have you been there?
My therapist is in my town, but my psychiatrist is about 80 miles away. I really like him so I travel. I’ve been seeing him maybe a year and a half. He’s playing with my mood stabilizers which I don’t like, but at least I’m not taking lithium anymore.
It might be worth it to travel. You might find a good therapist…
I hope you do find a good one…
I do most everything by computer (telehealth). I can do therapy from my home. As far as dp tors..i have 7. All of them are local but i do those visits by computer unless i need bloodwork or tests. Ic i get really sick i use a walk in clinic..but that is rare. Most things can be taken care of over the phone or computer. I have a log book and i take my own blood sugar blood pressure, pulse oxygen, temp, weight and heart rate. When i have a telehealrh visit i give them my numbers. If i had to go see a psychiatrist..i would travel for a good one. But i would think that is someone you could do by telehealth cause its not really a doctor that needs to do a "check up" on you. If your meds need to be changed they can call them in and if you need labwork they can have you use a lab close to you and send him the results. In the times we are in..doctors dont really want people in their office unless there is no other way.
If its the right one it sure is. I take 2 buses to get ro my therapist. George
I traveled 12-15 miles across town before the pandemic. If they help you, it's worth it. If not, even if it's a journey, go where you get the most help.
That was quite awhile ago
