A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been on 75 mg Effexor XR (venlafaxine) + abilify (aripaprazole) 5mg. Ive spoke to my doctor about the lack of effectiveness of my med. My blood pressure become very high and I was getting heavy night sweats that when I woke up I was drenched with sweat. I again spoke to my doc and said it’s normal. As far as the chemicals i in your brain not working. my opinion is you haven't found the right combination of medicines. Sometimes it takes along time to find this combination, so you want a doctor who knows his medicines and how they work.
I am on a combination of several different ones. Alittle of this, and a little of that. And even though not perfect they do work. My psychiatrist worked for almost a year with me to get them as good as they are..Sometimes I think that I know which work better then some of the doctors I have seen. LOL But, seriously you know your body better than anyone so don't be afraid to speak up and ask your doctors those questions and tell them what is going on.

Yes you are right. I have been battling my illness day in day out, from one breath to another breath. I’ve gone through hospitalization for treatment resistant depression. My community psychiatrist immediately told me to go to ER for ECT. However, he even called ER for ECT. But they said we don’t think he needs ECT. They asked me I said yes I will go for it if that’s the only choice. I voluntary signed up also but they didn’t do it.
