If you think you maybe bipolar then you need to talk to a therapist or go to a psychiatrist. THe psychiatrist is the only one that can diagnose you. The therapist can have an opinion but can not give a diagnosis. It depends on how much time you have to wait to see a doctor. Sometimes appts with the psychiatrist can be months out and you can get in to see a therapist quicker. That being said being bipolar is not a death sentence. There is medication for it. And it's not as if you need to be diagnosed immediately. That's the other thing the doctor can do is to prescribe medication. I've been diagnosed since 1993 however I had symptoms and was misdiagnosed since 1981. If you have any further questions let me know. Otherwise good luck to you.

Hi Somegirl818! Bipolar disorder has two phases. The First is severe depression, the second is Mania, hence the name bi-polar. Is you have ever experienced mania, then you may need to speak with your doctor about it! To me Mania is scary because I will engage in very risky behavior that's way out of character for me, sometimes I don't even realize the things I have said to my family or friends. When I'm in that stage I try to stay inside. My wife takes good care of me so she knows when i egt out of bed because of a censor that alerts her that I'm awake, and if I open the exit doors to the house they also have alarms. Before we installed them she told me that I would go for walks in the middle of the night half dressed and without shoes or socks! So if you are genuinely bipolar your family or whoever you live with would know that there is something going on! Please be careful! If you need to talk, you can add me to your team. I would like to help you if I can!
