Does Anybody Maintain A Journal? If So, Is It Helpful?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

Both my therapist and psychiatrist recommended that I maintain a journal to track my moods and to set goals myself.

Right now I am basically using the journal to list things I need to do to prioritize. I am so forgetful and unfocused. I also am tracking physical health stuff like diet, and exercise.

The x & star idea is a good idea. I write in my journal most of the time. It helps me for y next therapy session.

I had to make it a positive journal in my experience. I may say my mood was a 0. But that was all. I sometimes made my bad mood worse by focusing on it. For me a journal for what I am grateful for or something good that happened was the only way I could journal. Sometimes a picture or anything that makes me happy in a file is great too

Never put on paper what you do not want other people to know. Use your calender make and x for bad days and a star for good days, and treat yourself when you reach your goals. Just my suggestion. What do you have to lose try it. Only you know what the days mean on your calendar.

don't worry, as long as you write something, its a journal. I kept diaries all my life, and just found them before the basement flooded them. I see that I just jot down what was going on most of the time. the memories are in my mind. Have a great day.
