A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi I've been on imipramine for four months and it wasn't helping my depression so they added lithium to it (400mg). It seemed to help for a while but I had my bloods done and my psychiatrist said my lithium levels were too low so she increased it to 600mg. I don't know if it's a coincidence but at about the same time I started feeling very agitated and suicidal. Just a suggestion when you call the doctor that prescribed the medication say: THIS IS AN EMERGENCY! I AM FEELING SUICIDAL.....And then tell them about your reaction to the higher dose of lithium. Be rude...if it's the only way to get to talk to the doctor. I hope and pray this works for you. Best of luck. Let us know what happens.....

Hi Angie. I strongly agree with the advice to go to the hospital or even directly to your psychiatrist office. ASAP! You should not be left to your own devices when you’re not thinking clearly!! My doc often doesn’t respond right away but if it’s really serious I show up and make him fit me in!!
Good luck hunny 🤗❤️

You can always go to the ER or call the Suicide prevention hotline. You don't have to suffer. And remember that you are loved and cared about by your friends in Jobcase especially me.

And make sure that if you do stop taking the lithium, that you do it in gradual amounts and not just all at once.

If I were you I would go to the ER. I had a reaction similar to this with Prozac many years ago and I went to the ER to get the med changed and they took me seriously.
