Does Anyone Find The Good Relationship With Their Therapist Has Switched To One Of Resentment?

I know the whole point of a psychotherapist is to challenge our thoughts & beliefs to hopefully help us to make changes for a more positive mindset, however do you ever feel like your therapist is almost behaving like a school headmaster & you feel you are being told off rather than helped
Recently in the past couple of months I feel like she is almost provoking me so I often get bad anxiety the night before/morning of my appointment & then come out of the appointment in a mild sort of rage… read more

I have never had a therapist and what I'm about to say may not go down well. My Mum suffered with depression and was under a psychiatrist for years she had all the treatment there was at the time but it never helped. How do they know what your feeling is the first question and I believe anyone can lend an ear or be there for you but at the end of the day its down to you . One day I can be hyper another day so low I wouldn't care if I lived or died. I never trust anyone so no matter what I am told I take with a piece of salt.I may sound negative but only you know how you feel its trying to get it across is the hard part.On a good note everyone on here understands and we all get it so should always chat if you feel your in that black hole which I do often

Hi Parsnip even today there is a great deal of "myth" and denial around mental health/depression issues. even theory needs updating. therapist etc... also carry judgements, they are mere mortals just like the rest of us and carry their own trials and tribulations. Sadly, boundaries do get crossed and their issues can come in to play. Trust your own judgement on this one, your questions are relevant and valid. Warm hugs :)

I never had a therapist although I had a councillor and that was only for 7 sessions and they did help but in general I think actually talking to your own body and what it needs is a good option because you can ask you how your doing and be able to digress slowly to the bottom of the problem.
It's then when you know what you are here for in the spiritual sense.

Does that make sense

@A MyDepressionTeam Member @A MyDepressionTeam Member my said therapist left this week to have an operation but neglected to tell me. I rocked up last Wednesday to sit like a right plank in the reception waiting for nobody 😠 She told me last month she was to have an operation & last Wednesday would be our last appointment & she would tell me the plan for next month's absence. If anything was to change she would let me know πŸ€” That said it all for me!
