It would definitely help if you took an Ativan before you had it done. If you are tense it can cause it to hurt which it shouldn't do. It is important to do because that is how my youngest daughter found out she had cerevical cancer at 24 years old. Don't put it off.

I hate having these done. I know it's uncomfortable, but mine really hurt the last few times 😟.
Good luck @A MyDepressionTeam Member x

I'm not sure what happened during your previous pap smear. It was clearly traumatic. Would having a trusted girlfriend in the room with you, possibly holding your hand, maybe help you to feel less anxious?

Yes. You are allowed to do this. You do not have to ask for permission.

If you take an anti-anxiety med you might need someone to drive you to the appointment anyway. Might as well have them come in.

Please let us know how it goes. 💜 Hug.

If it makes you that scared, maybe your antianxiety drug wouldn't be bad, if it was me, I'd take one of my xanax, but I get one every year, so I just grin and bear it, it's gonna be uncomfortable no matter what.

Good luck.
