Are There Any Petite (weighing Under 100lbs) 20 Year Olds Taking Antidepressants?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm 21 and I weigh 85lbs. I just wanted to know if there are any other young petite women who take antidepressants.

I'm going to start for the first time in a couple weeks and I'm a little worried about the dosage and possible side effects. I've never taken meditation before and I would like if someone could tell me what I should expect.

My psychiatrist recommend half a Zoloft pill every morning.

@A MyDepressionTeam Member On the contrary, I'm worried I'll never be able to be over 100 lbs. I've been underweight my whole life and I'm sick of it.

Ok well almost all antidepressants and antipsychotics list weight gain as a side effect. Some are better than others however each individual will respond differently. Half a Zoloft is a very small dose and likely won't affect your weight dramatically. They can affect your mood and even make you a little worse before theyake you better. The important thing to remember is that unlike a paracetamol, which works immediately, it takes up to 6 weeks to get to an effective treatment dose in your bloodstream so persisting is important even if you dont initially feel any benefit.

Im interested to know why you posted your weight at the very beginning of you post. Are you specifically worried about weight gain?

I'm 21 and weigh 111 lb and to start I took 20mg of Prozac. Its working fine. However the first week I took it I did have side effects such as nausea and tremors. Those went away. Eventually my dosage will change as needed.
