Addicted To Self Destruction Or Self Harm.
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I've dealt with addiction to pain killers and self harm. I really am addicted to hurting myself and im not sure why. the deep seated hate for myself isnt as strong as it used to be i dont love myself but i dont think im good at all. When I do 'negative' things like self harm, drinking or exercising i do it excessively. i love exercising and i dont believe im hurting myself but i enjoy it when i cant breathe or when i hurt. it takes my mind off the things that i have no control over or i dont… read more

Oh Kaye,
I agree that everyone has good and bad days with body image. The thing to remember is that woman are supposed to have curves, the mega-skinny ones are in the minority. As a nurse I've seen thousands of naked women and men, and can tell you at the end of the day we're all pretty much the same.
Women's bodies are engineered for child bearing, if you're too thin or too large, nature steps in, as your body isn't healthy enough to nurture and rear a child.
As for doing things excessively, you may have 'an addictive personality '. My husband definitely has with smoking, drinking, prescription pills and previously any drug he could get his hands on. He wasn't bothered about what the substance was. Neither was I when I was younger.
There's something comfortable and familiar about so called old habits. It's like certain things remind us of happier times. We slip back into them as well, because we have the control over it.
I hope some of this may make sense, you may not agree with me, but that's ok. We're all entitled to our own opinion on stuff. It would be incredibly boring if we were all carbon copies of each other.
I have no problem listening to you. I'm sure people get fed up of my opinions on things, but whatever, that's who I am.
I certainly wouldn't consider being nasty to you, why would I?
I hope you've made some sense out of my ramblings. Take care of yourself x. 😻😼
