Does Anyone Else Feel Bad About Themselves Because Their Depression Has Caused Them To Stop Working, Either Temporarily Or Longer Term?

I really struggle with this and feel like a useless person. I've not been working for six months and I would like to get back into work, but I've lost a lot of confidence and get a lot of anxiety when I start looking at job ads and descriptions, I feel like I just won't be able to handle it, and memories of painful situations at jobs in the past come flooding back, its hard to be positive and feel things can get better. I feel like depression has ruined my life.

Turn this around, instead of being negative, Who wants the slave away, in a deadless job, who hates being there in the first place, enjoy the time you have, in the sun, on your own, and just accept thats the way things are. No point getting yourself stressed. Be thankful you havent got to get up , to go to a stressful job. Think that you can only work part time because you are enjoying what time you spend at home. I dont want to feel those stress piano cords in my neck, and face thankless people who like to complain all the time. Think about the things you can be thankful for. If you dont feel like getting a shower, go back to your gp, and say this tablets are no longer working. Can I try something else.

They should devize a guide book on when you should see your gp. When your getting intrusive thoughts of I should be dead or I might as well be. Urgently see your doctor. If you cant get out of bed, your tablets are not working, see your doctor, if you feel you cant shower,,, and your going down hill again, time to change your meds. If your feeling a failure, blar blar blar, Im sure all of you know where those thoughts are like, go see your gp, meds are not working. You should feel some positive feelings after a month after taking your meds, give it another month, if your improving, if your not, go back!! Dont accept feeling like crap, your worth more!!

I hope you all take note, if you dont feel better SEE YOUR Doctor!!

You,d be surprised, just do things that make you happy, even try things new, to see how you feel about it and write about it.

I want to hug you and tell you how amazing you are! You know yourself and your limit when it comes to work. You are being honest about how much time you can spend in an unpredictable work setting rather than setting yourself up for failure and more darkness. In a society of "work work work, more, more, more" I say congratulations and keep up the good work! Going into a full time job before you are ready would be tragic and leave you in a terrible place. Go slow and do what you can healthfully. You are so courageous.

Yes I do. When I read available positions I never can picture myself handling or being able to do the job. It is really a hinge for me as I struggle to go for opportunities. I find it hard to get out of bed in the morning let alone handle a job. I have also lost confidence in myself due to being rejected or not giving a new job a chance for me to get used to it. I can't even picture myself working a full time job as it seems impossible for me to get up and interact with people all day long. I used to enjoy people but have lost complete interest. Its a very lonely feeling
