Does Anyone Know The Withdrawal Symptoms Of Sertraline?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

Anyone who knows or has experience coming off this drug I'd appreciate some info on the kind of symptoms your likely to get when withdrawn from the medication. Thanks in advance.

these are some of the possible side effects of coming off Sertraline:-

dizziness or headaches.
tingling feelings like pins and needles or numbness.
sleep disturbances (vivid dreams, nightmares, not being able to sleep)
feeling anxious or agitated.
feeling sick or being sick.
shaking.
feeling depressed.

if the withdrawal from Sertraline is done properly, meaning gradually then the symptoms will be reduced, such as don't just suddenly stop taking them altogether, it needs to be done gradually (unless it is because of an allergic reaction or some other emergency), you really should get your own doctor's opinions on how is best for you to come off them though as he/she has your full medical history but usually it is done by first reducing the dosage unless you are already on the lowest dose then it is taking a tablet every other day for a few months then miss two days for a few weeks or months then reduce it again until you are only taking 1 a week for a few months or weeks then stop altogether but if at any time you start to feel depressed again or start having suicidal thoughts then you definitely need to go back to your doctor as soon as this happens !! i hope that this has been of some use to you.

As long as you go gradually off of it, you shouldn't have any of those problems. Never stop a high dose of antidepressant cold turkey!!!! As a pharmacist, I would always advance enough of the med to get the patient to their next Dr's appointment because I knew what it was like. Any pharmacist should do this!

Goodness. Well I hope today finds you better? I didnt particularly like these tablets a I was on 50mg and went down to 25mg on my own. Dr said that dose was a very weak "baby" does and asked how long I'd been doing 25mg I told her about a week or two she told me to just stop and take no more.
