I agree anxiety is very serious; sometimes I can't breathe; what calms me down is playing puzzle games on facebook this diverts my attention from the original thought.

Anxiety will not kill you remind yourself that even though it feels awful it will pass. Build a mental health toolbox. i have one with relaxation music, aromatherapy lavendar scents, a list of cognitive distortions checklist to challenge negative thought distortions, deep breathing, mindfulness, massage therapy,EXERCISE and a strong support group.

I'm calling BS on the "Anxiety will not kill you" comment. That IS NOT something someone with high anxiety needs to hear. Why? Because when we are having an attack, it definitely feels like it IS killing us and unfortunately some people have commited suicide because of it. I and others know this feeling 100%.

Please, if you haven't already, check some of the medications your on and see if what side effects they have. I was put on two that threw me into an awful anxiety last year.
If you don't care for the new medication, definitely speak with your doctor also. There are many different depression and anxiety medications out there! If you ar with a general practice, I would suggest to get a referral to a mental health practice also.
The "calming" Toolbox is a great thinge for a lot of people! I did try that but for me, I needed to be up and moving. Coloring would make it worst, woryin about going out of the lines made my anxiety worst. I like to work out. Take a drive. Walk around. I would even bake or cook to keep my hands busy. I do keep a hand band around my wrist to fidget with when I am in a place i can't just walk out of. I do listen to music but it's not the "meditation" type.
We have to remember we are all different even though we might have the same diagnosis.
Best wishes.
