Fluxotine
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

Can anyone suggest any better pills than fluxotine as have been on for almost 300 days now and constantly have an upset tummy doctor has supplied codeine to combat the side effects however have read these become addictive. Is there any better ones out there?

I was on fluxotine for years with no side effects but i wasn't on a strong enough dose as when i had to much stress at once I had a total melt down then 3-4 years ago I was changed to venlafaxine & I feel a lot better on it.

Certain anti depressants help to adjust the serotonin levels in the brain. The one you are on is that type of med. I myself didn't get relief with that so they put me on Effexor (Venlafaxine) which affects 2 neurotransmitters in the brain (serotonin AND nor epinephrine.) The best advice I can offer is for you to talk with your doctor very honestly about how you are doing with the depression and ask if he would consider trying a different anti depressant as this one doesn't seem to be helping. You have the right to make suggestions. :) Doctors ARE human and sometimes they need some "help" in order to best help you. Wishing you the best!

Ask for a medication review. This medication is obviously not working for you. You have the right to a review and if your doctor is not willing to, then seek a second opinion. Your health is your number one priority and taking Codeine for stomach upsets???? That's not good.

Vickyrichmond I was on 150mg Flurotine which obviously wasn't enough. On the venlafaxine I'm on a higher dose. You should speak to your GP to see if a higher dose could help you.
