Adderall
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am currently on Adderall, Effexor and Remeron for my depression. I have in the past been on Welbutrin and Lexapro. I just don't feel that it is working. I have my good days and bad days so I can't tell if it is the meds helping or not. Has anyone else been on any of these?

I am currently on Ritalin, a stimulant similar to Adderall, I don't take any antidepressant meds along side, as they tend to prevent the Ritalin being effective, one cancels out the other, so I'm not sure if perhaps it's same with Adderall, perhaps it'd be worth speaking to your doctor or psych, the same usually applies to beta blockers along side, although I have seen instances of some select beta blockers used along side Ritalin, although not sure of any combinations with Adderall, maybe you can find some medication reviews or reports of the combination online and see if others have found it helpful or not?

I'm not sure if you have similar things where you are, but here, we can ask for a medication review with our psychiatrists. They are very handy when you feel that you're not getting any benefit from the meds you're one. It might be worth asking your doctor to arrange this for you. I went through 5 years and more meds than I care to recall before I found the right combination and dose to keep me sane.

I have been on Effexor for around 8-9 years now and find it very helpful for me.
It is normal to have good day's and bad day's but if the bad day's are getting more frequent then perhaps your medication needs to be reviewed. If you have been on these medications for a long time then possibly they are no longer as effective.

Discuss taking a mood stabilizer. I was given Epilim and found that I felt better.

Yes! Me too! I have taken every med but seems like they aren't working. Going to talk to My Dr. to see if there is something new out there but hate to use meds in the first place-
