What Do People Do To Help Lift Their Mood When They Have Depression/anxiety?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've never found anything much that helps with lifting my mood. Sometimes people say that certain things will give them some joy in a very bleak day, or distract them, but nothing seems to work for me. I also have health problems, which limits me. But I'd appreciate some ideas.

I've actually created a playlist of music that is upbeat, fun, positive (a mixture of all genre's for me cuz I am a total music junky) - when i start to feel like I'm getting down, I put on headphones, crank up the volume and hit play on my playlist....while I'm listening to that, I grab my colored pencils and coloring book, and get lost in it. Sometimes, I end up dancing around my room like a teenager and making a complete fool of myself lol. I've found this helps me the most, and almost always keeps me from spiraling - I hope if you try this as well, it works for you too.

@A MyDepressionTeam Member. An old friend from school taught me how to crochet many years ago. I never kept up with it. I took it up an aging late last year. So far a crocheted a throw, a blanket for my daughter 2 shawls, a set of table toppers and a set of cars eat baby blankets. They are quite easy to do.

@A MyDepressionTeam Member. It depends on what I have to do that day. Sometimes I sleep, sometimes I spend money I don't really have, but the thing I enjoy doing most is, when I am out and I see a homeless person, I buy them a meal from Tim Hortons. Usually a sandwich, soup and a hot chocolate. I know it is money I can't afford to spend, but I am helping to make someone less fortunate to have something nutritious and it gives them a sense of renewed hope and faith. I also get my children to help as well. I will give my son the money to get the food and then both my son and daughter will give it to the person. When possible, I will sit there with them and pray with then. I try to give a little back to society what society has given me.

Me too. I sketch and listen to music. Usually rock or heavy metal. Dance around the house. And sing. My pets I am sure think I am crazy lol

Oh cool @A MyDepressionTeam Member! I do some crochet, too, mainly during the colder months. Yet to master blankets, though
